Interpretation sites and picnic areas
offer wonderful opportunities for
special educational and pleasurable
wilderness adventures. Located only
approx. 24 km (15 miles) northwest
of Annapolis, Delaps Cove has two
scenic wilderness trails, Bohaker
and Charlie’s, each with its own
unique ecosystem. The abandoned
Old Shore Rd. links them. Bohaker
Trail has a magnificent waterfall.

Raven Haven, open mid-June to
Sept. 7, is a 4-acre family-oriented
park on the scenic shores of nearby
Sandy Bottom Lake, owned by the
Municipality of Annapolis County,
managed by Recreation Services.
Reservations are recommended for
the campsites, cabins and hostel.
Qualified lifeguards will supervise
swimmers daily from 11 a.m. until
7 p.m. Enjoy the playground, join in
a game of beach volleyball or ring
toss, and visit the canteen for tasty

and fishing opportunities. Canoe
Annapolis County: A Paddler’s
Guide to Outdoor Adventure
features twenty-five canoe routes,
ranging from day trips to exciting
overnight/river trips, plus key
components about boating safety,
equipment, the wilderness ethics,
various outfitters, trip planning,
professionally digitized maps, route
locations, and a stunning collection
of photographs depicting Annapolis
County’s interesting and centuries-
old paddling tradition. $20 (plus tax)
This beautiful and secluded
wilderness area is located on Rt. 8
about 10 minutes from Annapolis
on the way out towards Kejimkujik
National Park. It features scenic
walking trails, a picnic area and
beach. Interpretive signs posted.
Keji, both a National Park and
a National Historic Site, is located
only 45 minutes from Annapolis
Royal. Consisting of 381 square km
of forests laced with streams, rivers
and lakes, it is a welcome refuge
and a nature-lover’s delight. 682-

More than 70 artists will visit
Annapolis Royal the weekend of
August 15 and 16 for Paint the
Town©. This popular event will
open the 9 day ARTs Unleashed
Festival. The artists will work in
all styles, from traditional to
contemporary, in a variety of
media including oil, acrylic,
watercolour, iron, stone, wood,
and photography. In previous
years, they have produced an
average of over 500 pieces of art
over the Paint the Town weekend.
The public is invited to watch
the artists at work. Bids can be
placed on art as soon as it reaches
the Paint the Town gallery at the
Legion between 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Final bids by 6 p.m. each day. See
something you can’t live without
– purchase it at a “buy-it-now”
gallery price, valid until 5 p.m.
Proceeds are split 50/50 between
the artists and the organization.
The first Paint the Town© took place in August 1996, with 25 artists
coming to paint on site around the historic town of Annapolis Royal.
Today it has grown into the anchor fund-raising event for the colourful
Annapolis Region Community Arts Council and it’s artist-run gallery,
