OYEZ! OYEZ! OYEZ!
I am pleased to announce that following a public competition my friend, CHRISTINE IGOT, was chosen as the new Town Crier for the Town of Annapolis Royal. I publicly endorsed Christine at the retirement ceremony for the former Town Crier, Peter Davies. I am pleased that the judging panel saw in Christine the same amazing qualities that I have witnessed for the last 40 years: a strong, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, empathetic, bilingual woman with a passion for life, a love for people, and a talent for performing and teaching. A proud Annapolitan for the last 10 years, Christine will be the perfect ambassador for our town, and I am certain she will do us proud at every event she attends.
As the chair of the Annapolis Royal Twinning Committee, secretary for the Friends of the Annapolis Royal Library, past president of the Friends of the Annapolis Royal Pool Society, a founding member of the Society of Fiber Artists of the Annapolis River, a flutist in the Annapolis Basin Community Band, an amateur theatre performer, a life member of The Historical Association of Annapolis Royal, a former French professor at University Sainte-Anne, a former historic interpreter at Fort Anne National Historic Site, and former operator of the vintage shop Mrs. Nicholson Home, with her sister Jane Nicholson, Christine Igot has worn many hats in her life. As she is about to don the hat of Annapolis Royal Town Crier, let us all congratulate Christine and wish her well in her new role.
Special thanks to all contestants and Pierre Igot Technical Services Ltd. for providing our video and photos. Christine's first official cry as the Town of Annapolis Royal's new Town Crier will be at the Annapolis Royal Farmers and Traders Market on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
BRAVO CHRISTINE!
